Q:  What is a UPC?
A:   A UPC, otherwise known as a Universal Product Code, is a numerical digit assigned to most retail products.  The number consists of a specific code assigned both to the company that owns the registration, as well as for that product name and size.  The term "barcode" is often used as a synonym for a UPC.  In essence, it's the very same code system used at your local grocery store by your cashier when your products are sold!

Q:  What is the purpose of UPC Submit?
A:  To aid in accurate field inspection reporting, state departments are starting to request UPC's with product registrations and/or renewals.  UPC Submit allows the user to submit this information quickly on line, which in turn, is submitted electronically to participating states.  This process reduces the chance of human error by all parties involved.

Q:  How can submitting UPC's to a state be a benefit to anyone?
A:  State departments are starting to perform field inspections with hand-held devices that can read UPC's.  This process is faster than the traditional paper method, and reduces time consuming human error.

Q: My products have more than one UPC.  How can I enter all of them in?
A:  Submit UPC allows for you to enter multiple codes for each product.   Enter the first 10 UPC's and then you will be given the opportunity to submit 10 additional UPC's.

Q:  Can I send the same UPC to multiple states at once?
A:  Similar to submitting documents online, the user will be given the opportunity to submit the UPC to additional participating states.

Data Information

Q:  Where does the product listing on Submit UPC come from?
A:  Each participating state supplies Kelly Registration Systems with data directly from their own tracking programs on a scheduled basis.  KRS takes this data, and converts it into a different format, which allows for the user to easily work with their products registered in each state.

Q:  How up to date is the provided list of products or licenses??
A:  Most states send data on a weekly scheduled basis.

Q:  What happens to the UPC's that I enter?
A:   The UPC's will be sent to the appropriate state departments, per their instructions..

Q:  When can UPC's be entered?
A:   UPC's may be updated at any time as UPC Submit is available 24/7/365.

Fees

Q:  What is the charge to upload data on Submit UPC.
A:  There is no charge whatsoever to registrants or states.

Password Requirements/Security

Q:  Can other people upload labels for my company?
A:   To ensure that only authorized personnel are permitted to upload legitimate information, a user name and password is assigned to each company's agent.  This information comes directly from Kelly Registration Systems.

Q:  I lost my password, or never received one.
A:  Please contact Kelly Registrations at the number listed below, and we will be happy to assist you in obtaining the information.

State Participation

Q:  Not all states are participating in UPC Submit.  Why is that?
A:  KRS has extended the offer for participation to all states.  Some states require a more lengthy process to receive electronic files, due to legislation or internal reasons.

Q:  Some states are on kellysolutions.com but are not participating in UPC Submit.
A:  Certain states are not yet ready to handle electronic processes, although most of them are either ready, or well on their way to being able to accept electronic submissions.

Q:  Can I do anything to help 'speed up' those states that are not yet participating?
A:  You are welcome to call or write to the appropriate state departments, to express an interest in submitting UPC's electronically..
